Bucharest was mentioned for the first time during the reign of prince Vlad the Impeller, better known as Dracula. Since then, Bucharest grew steadily, being now a really cosmopolitan city. Internationally renowned artists, like the composer and interpret George Enescu, and several well-known opera singers have performed in Bucharest. Beside its history and its own charm, Bucharest offers everything what a European capital city can offer - starting with all kind of museums and theatres, where we can arrange tickets (the theatres, the Opera and the Operetta are usually closed from end June to mid-September), to discos and night-clubs. Despite the fact that under communist rule part of the city has been destroyed, despite social problems of more recent periods, Bucharest is, as always, the most beautiful and diverse city in the region.
