Everything is peculiar in this trip but very practical, like living on a moving house as the boat is. Her name is: Polar Girl. 100 feet long is an old ferry, today transformed in a nice hospitable boat. Rooms with 2 or 4 berths accommodate up to 25 people on board. 3 showers. Every day we ski on perfect slopes - never too steep - starting from the sea. This is a tremendous advantage: lots of oxygen or a quick reserve to fill the lungs with. During the sailing the privilege point of view offers tremendous views. We find new slopes that can be reach only by boat.
The snow condition of Norway is mostly spring snow type, and Due to the latitude we will have the chance to start late in the morning, around 10 am. Back to the boat by late afternoon, while the boat sails to the next harbour, people comment the day as;no worries about where to go, where to camp our tent is a moving one. While eating, relaxing on the sides of the fjords new beautiful mountains appear, the enthusiasm never drops. A better combination is impossible to imagine.
Groups can be of maximum 25 people. On board there are always 3 guides and a doctor. Meals -breakfast and dinners- are cooked by the boat crew. It is not a luxurious cruise, it's a lot more similar to live in a climbing hut but a moving one. Bread, salami, butter, cheese, and marmalade for breakfast and with the same we prepare the snacks for the day out skiing. Everyone is invited to bring his own favourite power bars or energy drinks. No ice axes, no crampons, no harnesses are required but everyone has to have transceiver, shovel and probe.
The weather in Norway is very variable. We can start in the morning sun and find ourselves in winter condition after a short time. You must be ready to stand this typical Norwegian situation. We cannot guarantee Auroras Borealis but some of us have seen them. We cannot guarantee deep powder but many times we have skied in this conditions. We can guarantee: good skiing, a sample of Norway, cods, fjords and a lot of fun.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Saturday
Arrival in Tromsø and transfer to our boat which will be your home and transport to the mountains for the next week.
Day 2 - Day 7: Saturday - Saturday
We ski a new mountain each day. Your guide will choose the trips based on the snow and weather conditions and your groups skiing ability to ensure a fantastic ski experience. We have hundreds
of mountains to choose from in Lyngen and Kåfjord with something for everyone, not to mention the amazing alpine scenery and Arctic fjords.
Day 8: Monday
Transfer to the airport and fly home. Alternatively continue your holiday in Norway.
Spend few more days in Tromso:
Enjoy sightseeing in the colorful city centre, more skiing on Tromsdalstind which overlooks the city or dog sledding on a nearby mountain. In the evening we can visit one of Tromsøs numerous restaurants for dinner.
