Join us in touring kayaks to explore the seldom-visited areas of Cheoah and Caulderwood Lakes. These two lakes are nestled in the highest and most remote mountains east of the Mississippi.
Comfortably outfitted in Wilderness System and Prijon Touring kayaks, any and all experience levels will enjoy this trip. Both scenic and informative, this will be a highlight of your visit to western North Carolina.
Our guides will lead you on water trails around the lakes and into small tributaries, along the way identifying for you the flora, fauna, geology and history of the area.
We start each trip with a morning warm-up to acquaint you with the art of kayak touring boats. Halfway through the day, a delicious picnic lunch is set up with refreshments for the hearty.
Additional points of interest included in the day's exploration can include Cheoah Dam, Fontana Dam, the old Caulderwood railroad tunnel, Slick Rock creek trail and Joyce Kilmer Forest.
In addition, join us for a two-day bed & breakfast itinerary dung the fall color season. Kayak lake touring is relaxing fun on the beautiful lakes of western North Carolina.
