You will definitely get quite tired & sweaty. It could get quite humid during long treks. You might miss a few familiar comforts of home. But, if you can put up with a few minor inconveniences, we will show you a magical and exotic world few have experienced.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Airport/ Colombo – Kandy. Leave for Kandy visiting the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage en-route. This orphanage for baby elephants was established to feed, nurse & house young elephants found abandoned by their mothers. The feeding and bathing times are the highlight of the day.
Proceed to Kandy, the hill capital of Sri Lanka. Kandy is situated in a valley 1600 feet above sea level, and is one of the most beautiful cities in Sri Lanka. The temple of the tooth, one of the most venerated Buddhist temples in the world is located here. Dinner and overnight will be at the Hotel Suisse or Tree of Life.

Day 2: Kandy – Trekking. Breakfast will be at the Tree of Life Hotel. The vehicle will drop you off at the point to start your walk which covers the 700 year old Western Shrines of Kandy. Experience the rural social conditions of Sri Lanka when you walk along gravel road, foot paths and along paddy field banks. You will arrive at the Gadaladeniya Rock Temple 1 ˝ hours later. You will be given a brief description of the temple's history. You could also spend some time speaking to some of the devotees.
Leave for the Lankathilake Blue Temple, which is another half an hours' walk passing evergreen paddy fields. You will be given a brief tour of the temple, after which you can enjoy your picnic lunch in a spot close to the temple, taking in the beautiful scenery of the surrounding area.
Another 1 ˝ Km walk through village byroads will bring you to the world famous Embekke Wooden Temple. A superb example of the island's architecture in wood & dedicated to the god Kataragama or Skanda believed to have been built in 1371 AD. The temple boasts over 100 intricately carved wooden pillars. The vehicle will bring you back to the Hotel Tree of Life for dinner & overnight.

Day 3: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya – Bandarawela. Leave for the salubrious mountain retreat of Nuwara Eliya. Located almost 6200 feet in elevation, you will be surprised at the change in vegetation and scenery, and find it hard to believe you are in a tropical country. Visit a tea plantation and factory on the way. Proceed to Bandarawela for dinner and overnight at the Silver Springs.

Day 4: Bandarawela – Ohiya – Haldummulla. Take the morning train to Ohiya. From the Ohiya station, from take increasingly challenging walk to Haldummulla. The trek of about 6 hrs, winds through tea plantations, mountain slopes and thick jungle, ending at your next overnight’s stay. Dinner and overnight will be at the World’s End Lodge.

Day 5: Arugam Bay. Today you will be leaving to the famous east coast. Visit Panama wewa en-route. This is the home of a good number of crocodiles. You could see a good number of them lazing on the bank of the tank awaiting their prey. Overnight will be at Arugam Bay.

Day 6: Arugam Bay - Lahugala. Today you could visit the Lahugal National Park. You will be visiting Magul Maha Vihara en-route. The ancient vihara was built by king Dhatusena between 516- 526. Later Vihara Maha Devi, the wife of the two Parakramabahu brothers renovated the jungle-covered shrine. The above information was found on a rock inscription dating back to the 14th century AD. Proceed to Lahugala National Park. Lahugala lies smack in the middle of an elephant corridor that connects the Yala region to the Gal Oya region. This, together with the beru, makes this ‘tank’ duo the meeting place of elephants traveling along this passage. Lahugala would undoubtedly be the finest place in the island to observe wild elephants without much ado and in fair comfort. Return to Arugam Bay for overnight.

Day 7: Arugam Bay. Today you are free to relax on the beach of Arugam Bay, one of the fines in the island. Rediscover the magic of the east coast with its un-spoilt, unpolluted and clean beaches. The white sandy beaches stretch over vast areas. Fishing along with paddy cultivation is the main occupation in this area. Seafood grill and Barbecue by the beach is a memorable experience indeed. Overnight at Arugam Bay.

Day 8: Arugam Bay – Ella. Leave for Ella after breakfast. You are free to indulge in some adventure activities in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight will be at Ella Adventure Park.

Day 9: Ella – Loinorn. Head toward the golden valley of Bogawantalawa. Trek from Bogawa to Loinorn. You will end up at the picturesque North Cove, where you will be spending the night.

Day 10: Loinorn. Today is a day you could relax or free to walk in the cool mountains. Dinner and overnight will be at the North Cove.

Day 11: Loinorn – Colombo. Leave Loinorn for Kitulgala for some flat-water rafting, this morning. The whitewater rafting in flat water, will cover about 3 Km and of about one hour’s duration. Proceed to Colombo where you will arrive at the Havelock for overnight.

Day 12: Transfer to airport. You will be taken to either a Colombo hotel or the Airport today.
