Rain forests, thundering waterfalls, granit rocks, snowcapped volcanoes and coastal inlets dominate the landscape of British Columbias Sea to Sky Country between Vancouver and the resort of Whistler. From the Pacific Coast to snowcapped peaks, from the beautiful city of Vancouver to the wilderness of the Elaho Valley, few areas in the world offer a similar natural beauty and diversity. On feet, by mountain bike and raft, by boat we will discover this unique area. After fun filled days of activity we will retreat into charming lodges and enjoy gourmet dinners.
Your Itinerary
Day: We will meet in one of the most beautiful cities: Vancouver. From here we take a boat deep into the coastal inlet of Howe Sound. Upon our landing in Squamish we a have a good lunch before we hike up one of the largest granit monoliths in the world. On our way through old growth rain forest we pass 1000ft (300m) high Shannon Falls. From the peak you will enjoy an awesome view over Howe Sound and the snowcapped peaks of the Coastal Range.
Day 2: Today we take mountain bikes to explore the Squamish Valley on forest roads and easy trails. Along the way we explore the Mamquam River Gorge and we might take a refreshing bath in Alice Lake. Today's destination is a historic riverside fishing lodge.
Day 3: We will explore the wilderness of the Elaho Valley via raft. Here, only 100km north of the bustling city of Vancouver grizzly bears still exist and humans are in awe of the ancient cedar trees. We will get to see this beautiful valley in the shadow of the Tantalus Range from our raft. From a safe distance we observe eagles, salmon and the occasional bear.
Day 4: We will shuttle to the resort of Whistler. On our way we take a short walk to beautiful Brandywine Falls. In the afternoon we take our mountainbikes for a spin on gravel roads and trails along Rainbow and Lost Lakes to our beautiful lodge on the shores of Green Lake.
Day 5: Today we overcome gravity with the help of the Whistler gondola. It takes us into a spectacular high alpine environment. Soon we will leave the ski area and any human traces behind us and hike toward Singing Pass. Along the way we enjoy breathtaking views from the volcanoes Garibaldi and Black Tusk to the glaciers of the Spearhead range. After a long days hike we will return via Russet Lake to Whistler Village.
Day 6: After a relaxing start into the day one of the most stunning train rides in the world will be the fitting end to this unforgettable trip. BC Rail will take us through rugged Cheakamus Canyon and along Howe Sound back to Vancouver where we say our goodbyes.
