Jakarta is the commercial and bureaucratic centre of Indonesia. In the seventeenth century the Dutch settlement of Batavia was built around the port of 'Sunda Kelapa'. Batavia was laid out like a city of the Netherlands, with small streets along canals. This soon proved to be the wrong approach for the tropics, as the canals were the source of many pestilent diseases. In the old town 'Kota' of Jakarta we can still see remnants dating back to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival Jakarta. Meeting service at Soekarno Hatta - Jakarta airport then transfer to hotel.
Day 2: Jakarta
Breakfast at hotel, tour, visit to National Museum with its fine collections of ceramics, statues, gold etc. Then proceed to Fatahillah Museum. Built in 1710, this was Jakarta's original City Hall. Then travel to 'Sunda Kelapa' Harbour to see the colorful Phinisi sailing ships and the national monument of Indonesia. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch proceed to Miniature Park to visit Museum Indonesia, the bird park and an opera/drama/musical.
Day 3: Jakarta - Bandung
Breakfast at your hotel, then proceed to Bandung via Puncak. Visit Bogor Botanical Garden build in 1817 with its exotic tropical plants over 15.000 species, and visit Safari Park where you may hold Lion Cubs, Orangutans, Tigers etc. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, then proceed to Bandung for your overnight stay.
Day 4: Bandung
Breakfast at hotel, full day visit Tangkuban Prahu crater, an active volcanic crater and Ciater hot spring resort, noted for its healing powers for skin/rheumatism problems. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch proceed to Lembang fruits market and Cihampelas Blue Jeans center, then back to hotel.
Day 5: Bandung - Jogyakarta
Breakfast at your hotel, direct transfer to train station for your next destination, Jogyakarta, by executive class train. Lunch boxes will be served on the train. After arrival at Jogyakarta transfer to hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 6: Jogyakarta
Breakfast at your hotel, then visit the Sultan's Palace built in 1775, a batik home industry, silver factory, Borobudur temple and Prambanan temple. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
Day 7: Transfer out. Breakfast at hotel, free time until transfer to Jogyakarta airport for your next destination.
