The ultimate four day adventure with everything from exhilarating helicopter ride, exciting whitewater rafting, fishing, hiking, natural hot springs and fine cusine under a starry night round the campfire.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Meet at Rotorua or at De Bretts Holiday Park, Taupo, and travel to Poronui Station where the adventure begins with a helicopter ride along the Kaimanawa/Kaweka ranges to the starting point at the Mohaka river. Experience good white water rafting and breathtaking scenery all the way to the campsite. Take some time to stroll the river banks for a spot of fishing while you await your culinary delight served around the campfire.
After dinner relax while soaking in the Mangatainoka natural springs hot tub under a starry sky.
Day 2: Lay day to relax and explore beech forests, fish, munch away on a buffet of goodies and soak the hours away in the natural hot springs.
Day 3: Set out on another exciting day of good grade 2-3 whitewater rafting as we travel through native bush, farmland and forestry. Once again we enjoy the wonders of nature, with a stop at the Mangatutu Natural hot spings, then travel on after a good soak to our next campsite.
Day 4: Raft today to the vehicle support and travel back to our meeting point in Taupo or Rotorua.
What we provide:
- All meals from lunch on day one to lunch on the last day;
- All required eating and camping equipment;
- All cooking utensils;
- A large tent fly for shelter;
- Foam insulation pads for sleeping;
- Transport to and from our meeting point at the De Bretts Holiday Park in Taupo;
- Department of Conservation concession fees;
- Wetsuit, Wetsuit Booties, Lifejacket, safety helmet, Rafts and all necessary rafting and safety equipment;
- Rafting and Safety instructions;
- Experienced Guides.
What you should bring:
Off River - Sleeping bag (or hire one of ours), your own small tent if you prefer privacy (or hire from us), an adequate supply of your own medication (if applicable), personal clothing and toiletries, warm clothes a towel, 2 pairs warm socks, light walking shoes and a torch.
On River - Strap on sandals or Wetsuit booties (which we provide), swimsuit for under your wetsuit and a windbreaker if the day is cold and windy, feel free to bring your own alcoholic beverages but please no glass bottles * Pack your gear in a small soft bag, lined with a plastic bag and keep your sleeping bag separate.
