Your Itinerary: Bima-Komodo-North Flores-Maumere (v.v)

Day 1
Arrival in Bima. After checking in on the Ombak Putih we will start an excursion to a traditional village called Wawo in the mountains south east of Bima. The panoramas on the way there are breathtaking! In the village we’ll witness a performance of an ancient martial art as well as rituals relate to the planting and harvesting of rice.
Late afternoon embarkation on board the Ombak Putih.

Day 2
Arrival in Komodo/Rinca one of the many islands in Komodo National Park to watch the feared Komodo dragons in their natural habitat. Skilled rangers will safely guide you to see these huge predators that can reach a length of more than three meters and can weigh up to 120 kg. During lunch the boat sails to a nearby white sandy beach, where you can explore the rich reef or bask in the sun.

Day 3
Arrival in Labuhanbajo, a charming small fisherman village at the western tip of Flores. By mini-bus we go to a nearby village, where the local people demonstrate ancient dances and the famous whip fighting of the Manggarai people, the caci. In the afternoon we sail the boat to a beautiful beach for snorkeling and a swim at one of the many secluded beaches in the area.

Day 4
Riung islands a group of uninhabited isla nds just of the coast of North Flores. Enjoy a day on the beach, snorkel or climb up the hill for a spectacular view on the Ombak Putih and the island of Flores in the background.

Day 5
Anchor at Punge beach at the island of Palu’e. Early morning trek up the hill to Ko'a village. The Ko'a villagers still preserve a great cultural heritage, and when they perform their dances and rites this will look so genuine as if the rite is dedicated to their ancestors, these people are very proud of their culture. Observe the village life where water is a luxury (they have to trap gas/vapor and channel water drops into bamboo poles for drinking water). Women still have the tradition of weaving and wearing the Palu’e ikat.

Day 6
Arrival in Ropa. You will start your tour early in the morning to the famous three colored lakes of the Kelimutu volcano. After seeing the lakes you will make a short walk downhill and have a short coffee break with a snack. You will continue your program via some villages where women will demo nstrate Flores ikat weaving, than back to Ropa where you will meet the boat again. The late afternoon and evening we spend on a nearby beach.

Day 7
Arrival at Pulau Besar. Visit one of the fishing villages where people live in houses on stilts just of the beach. Experience the tranquil life on this tropical paradise island. Jacque Cousteau once said that the reefs here were among the most rich he had ever seen. Now it is fascinating to see how a reef recovers from an earthquake almost 15 years ago. In the evening the cook will prepare a beach BBQ.

Day 8
