Sailing south from Kawau Island you can stop off at Tiri Tiri Matangi Island. Tiri Tiri is a wild life success story. The open bird sanctuary is administered by New Zealand Department of Conservation as a native forest and wildlife sanctuary. There are walking tracks throughout the island and many rare and exciting birds can be seen in their natural environment.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1 - Dave & Helen collect you from your hotel and bring you to the boat for a lovely sail up to Kawau Island where we anchor in Mansion House Bay, and either visit the historic homestead or take a quiet nap before sunset, happy hour and a magnificent home cooked meal.
Day 2 - Exploring Kawau and the surrounding islands, walking to an abandoned nineteenth century copper mine and fossicking in the wreck at Motorekareka Island.
Day 3 - Heading south again, pausing for a little fishing and a call at Tiri Tiri Matangi Island to visit the bird sanctuary. Then off to Waiheke Island, and maybe dinner ashore in one of the Island's delightful cafes.
Day 4 - A sail around Waiheke island, stopping off for a swim or to explore a network of wartime tunnels, with perhaps a little trolling along the way, and BBQ fish for lunch. Anchor in one of the beautiful days at the bottom end of Waiheke.
Day 5 - A leisurely day's sailing, enjoy lunch at Motuhei Island before sailing back to the marina and we transfer you back to your hotel.
