This 8 1/2 day tour package was designed not only to expose the motorcyclist to the marvelous city of Rio de Janeiro and all it has to offer, but also to the best sites and most charming towns found throughout the State, from sunny beaches to green mountains. Six days will be spent on the road, visiting XVII Century port villages, XIX Century coffee plantations and XXI Century beach resorts.
Your Itinerary
Day 1: Rio de Janeiro arrival (Airport pickup and transfer to hotel) Check-in at Rio's best 4-Star hotel, in Ipanema. After some sight-seeing, dinner will be at one of Rio’s many great Italian restaurants. To visit Brazil and not appreciate the culinary influence of its Italian immigration would be unforgivable. Included: (B), (D).
Day 2: More sight-seeing in Rio but with plenty of time to enjoy Rio’s best day, Sunday, when the beachfront boulevard is closed for exclusive use by pedestrians, locals fill the beaches, and open air markets pop up everywhere to sell everything from produce to handicrafts. Dinner at Rio’s best Churrascaria, a classic Brazilian steakhouse and buffet. Included: (B), (D).
Day 3: After breakfast, we'll ride 275 Km to the southern tip of the State, hugging coastal highway most the way. Our destination is the historic, seaside village of Parati. Dinner will be a special affair. We will be the exclusive guests of a gourmet cooking school, where the owner will prepare special Brazilian dishes. Anyone interested in partaking in the preparation and enjoying a private cooking class is welcome to do so. Included: (B), (D).
Day 4: This day’s ride will take us into Rio’s mountain country. We will wind through the green coastal mountains that once made coffee king in Rio de Janeiro. The coffee bushes have been gone for more than a century but the historic plantations still stand. We will spend the night on an original 19th Century plantation. Overnight in this museum of a home is a step back in time and provides a sense of how the Coffee Barons of the 1800’s lived. Included: (B), (D).
Day 5: After enjoying a leisurely breakfast, we will leave Brazil’s historic coffee capital and enjoy an exciting ride to Petropolis, the country’s summer capital in the 19th Century, when Brazil was an Empire ruled by Portugal’s Kings and Princes. Dinner will be at our inn. Included: (B), (D).
Day 6: Though our next destination is a mere 45 miles as the crow flies, this day we will ride nearly 250 miles, taking the long route, twisting through some of Rio’s most beautiful mountains. Our exhilarating day will end at a fantastically comfortable and charming mountain inn, in the midst of what could be considered the Switzerland of Brazil, since the region was settled by Swiss immigrants in the early 1800's. Included: (B), (D).
Day 7: After breakfast we will commence a breathtaking ride of nearly 200 miles across and down Rio's Northeast coastal mountains to the ocean. Our destination is the internationally renowned (thanks to Bridget Bardot), beach resort town of Armacao de Buzios, where we will spend the night at one of the many charming waterfront inns. Dinner will be at a stylish, Argentine restaurant located in the quaint but active village. Included: (B), (D).
Day 8: There will be time in the morning for a relaxing breakfast, lounging by the pool or checking out the numerous beaches, before we complete the last 125 miles of our tour. After dropping off the motorcycles and checking back into the hotel there will be a de-briefing to go over plans for the remainder of the weekend. There will be time for any sightseeing left undone. Our farewell dinner will be at Rio’s greatest seafood restaurant, truly a memorable dining experience. (For anyone needing to fly home a day early, there will be sufficient time since most flights depart in the evening and we will be back in Rio by the late afternoon.) Included: (B), (D).
Day 9: Prior to departing for the airport, there will be ample time to enjoy another Rio Sunday, as well as any last minute shopping. Arrangements can also be made for those wishing to travel more extensively within Brazil or South America. Included: (B).
