The U.S. Forest Service recently invited O.R.E. to begin conducting guided trips on the beautiful and thrilling Clackamas River. In just a few years this run has become our most popular short trip. With good reason! Our 1/2 and 1 day Clackamas trips (on the Three Lynx section of the upper river) are some of Oregon's best rafting adventures, suitable for first-timers and experienced river runners alike.
Our tours meet at Memaloose, just east of Estacada, Oregon. Memaloose is approximately 45 minutes from Portland's east side, and roughly an hour from downtown. Full day trips meet at 9:30 AM. Morning 1/2 day trips meet at 9:30 AM, and afternoon 1/2 day trips meet at 1:00 PM.
Your Itinerary
Day 1: Portland residents and visitors familiar with the placid lower Clackamas may be unaware that a short distance upstream a series of class III and IV rapids awaits. The river's upper reaches, in fact, provide some of Oregon's finest whitewater. Powerhouse, Roaring River, Headwall, and Carter Bridge are a few of the many lively rapids encountered, as well as Bob's Hole, site of a well-known kayak competition held each May.
Whitewater is perhaps the river's primary attraction, but lush mountain scenery, solitude, and crystal clear water add to the river's charm. Plus all of this is practically in Portland's back yard - roughly an hour from downtown, and about 30 minutes from the east side of town. Our high water 1-day trips begin at Sandstone Bridge and take out at Memaloose. In order to create an enjoyable trip of appropriate length, our 1/2 day and low water 1-day trips will begin and end at alternate access points. (B)
