Ocracoke Island is the ultimate destination. The island is 16 miles long, 14 of which are protected as part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The only developed part is the picture postcard village around the harbor on the southern end. Reachable only by boat and private plane, Ocracoke is worth the effort of getting there. The famous picturesque lighthouses of the North Carolina seashore complete our adventure in the historic islands haunted by Blackbeard’s legend!
Our lodging is Inlet Inn in Beaufort overlooking the waterfront, and The Castle on Silver Lake in Ocracoke, a rambling harborfront inn that is luxurious while still keeping the spirit of Old Ocracoke.
