Mt Nicholas Station - lies at the foot of the Southern Alps, Fiordland National Park to the west and the spectacular clear waters of Lake Wakatipu, immediately below to the east. Nestled within this breath taking panorama, is Mt Nicholas Lodge.
The Lodge: The character of the lodge at Mt Nicholas is an extension of the natural surroundings. Nestled in a secluded and private setting, the 80 year old lodge has been adapted from the properties original homestead, offering all the comforts of home with almost every window providing a spectacular view. The rolling lawns, large flagstone paved verandas and mature garden setting all add to the unique environment.
As a guest you will enjoy a friendly family like atmosphere and be served the very best of local produce, much of which is grown (or raised) on the station itself. The hearty breakfasts, gourmet lunches, and traditional evening meals, as prepared by Adrienne in the large country style kitchen, will be sure to satisfy every appetite. Her expert knowledge of New Zealand wines will ensure the dining experience is complete.
Hunting: Remote, pristine and with diverse landscape and wildlife, Mt Nicholas Station offers a world class hunting experience and is one of the few locations in New Zealand where all species offered can be hunted from the lodge base. The terrain at Mt Nicholas rises from lake level at 300 meters, to over 2,000 meters, a stunning landscape of river valleys and flats, mountain range after spectacular mountain range, native bush giving way to alpine grasses and craggy bluffs. Within this beautiful landscape are several species of equally beautiful trophy animals, either in Safari Park or Free Range environments. This is an experience guaranteed to not only test your hunting skills, but to also leave you with a profound feeling of awe, after following such magnificent animals in such an extraordinary location.
Mt Nicholas offers a wide range of Trophy Hunts, from single species to combination hunts which can include up to 5 different animals. Red Stag, Wapiti Bull, Fallow Buck, Himalayan Tahr and Chamois.
