In the middle of priceless tranquility and beauty of the Futaleufu Region, you will have an opportunity to enjoy an amazing week of fishing different types of trout and salmon.

The fishing is primarily comprised of Rainbow and Brown trout that can reach up to 20 lbs. Depending on the spot and time of the year, we fish Brook trout as well as Pacific and Atlantic Salmon. We practice catch and release and encourage use of barbless hooks.

We mostly use dry flies but depending on the spot, weather, time of the day and other local factors, we employ nymphs and streamers in search of the most ferocious and strong fishes you might ever see.

The Futaleufu river, one of our favorite routes, has some of the most powerful trouts in the region due to its intense rapids, which makes it one of the most respected and sought after spot by kayakers and rafting expeditions worldwide. This demanding environment makes the fish grow so strong that the speed and power you'll experience won't be found anywhere else.

We also fish in our Rio Espolon (river), Espolon lake, Yelcho lake, Yelcho river, Palena river and many other secret rivers and lakes, all close to the lodge. If you prefer, we can also fish in Argentina, in national parks near Trevelin and Esquel all within reasonable distances from the lodge or combine with our partner lodge in the Coyhaique region of Chilean Patagonia.

Futaleufu Region is located between Puerto Montt and Coyhaique, in the south of Chile, across the "Carretera Austral" road, Chilean Patagonia's heart. This means complete isolation, allowing the region to preserve the ecosystem, which so far has been barely influenced by civilization.

In this place, people still ride horses and use firewood for cooking, but because of being a Chilean border town, the government provides excellent public services such as hospital, mail services, school, ATM and other necessary services.

Chile is located in the southernmost part of South America, situated between the majestic Andes Mountains on the East and the immense Pacific Ocean on the West. This long strip of land has been blessed with natural barriers from pests and diseases from the rest of the world. The northern Chile is considered the driest place on earth (Atacama desert) while the southern Chile and its Patagonian rainforest can receive over ten feet of rain in a year.

Espolon, where our lodge is located, is only a few miles away from the small town of Futaleufu, which bears the name of the world-renowned Futaleufu river. Despite its proximity to the town, the lodge enjoys total isolation from the world.

The lodge is strategically situated, surrounded by rivers, streams, lagoons and native forest. Here we enjoy easy access to a wide diversity of fishing spots. Starting with the river itself where you could cast directly from the lodge. Just in the surrounding areas you’ll be used to hooking 30+ rainbows in one afternoon. And yes, they are all wild trouts and 14”+ average!! That’s just to warm up for the real deal. We’ll be fishing the most amazing waters while enjoying fantastic views that will stay with you forever.
