Cozumel is the ideal place to practice the sport of scuba diving... Back in the early 60s, the famed oceanographer, Jacque Cousteau "discovered" or rather informed the world of, what is now known as the second largest barrier reef system in the world. The Great Mayan Reef as it is now called, starts at the tip of the Yucatan Peninsular just north of Cancun and extends into the Honduras basin in the south Caribbean sea, hugging the coastline of the Mexican State of Q. Roo and the east coast of the country of Belize. Off the south west side of the island of Cozumel is the largest concentration of this reef system thus offering scuba divers at least forty different diving sites..Cozumel is world known for it’s crystal clear waters, easy "drift" diving and wonderful underwater life...Also here you will find a large free form pool for all ages to enjoy. High privacy walls surround the grounds. All three cottages have a complete kitchenette and private bathroom. Located in the original quadrant of the town, ideal location to walk to the town plaza or waterfront. Personal service from inn owners who have lived on the island since 1976 make this a perfect hideaway for your next sun or dive vacation.

Property amenities:
The Cozumel bed and breakfast, Amigo’s B&B, is located on a quiet street in the heart of the original downtown quadrant. Amigo’s B&B Cozumel offers it’s guests cottage style rooms all set in a large tropical fruit garden.All three cottages are set back from the road on this large(just about an acre) tropical fruit garden. Hard to believe this is actually located right in town. At least 10 different species of regional fruit grow here and will be part of the morning breakfast when ripe. Each kitchenette has:

* Refrig, micro
* Two burner hot plate,cooking and eating utensils
* Private hot water bath with showers are in each unit
* AC, ceiling fans
* Alarm clocks and a cassette-radio player are in each room
* Private entrance to the property away from the onsite owner-host residence is how one enters the B&B.
* Purified drinking water
* Pressurized Water System
* Safe Box service

The public area is a large palapa ( thatched roofing of the area) and here is where daily breakfast is served. A communal living area with a TV,VCR, DVD region 1, cassette player, games, books, magazines, darts, and child size pool table are all available. Upon arrival a detailed briefing or introduction to Cozumel is given to the clients. Small safe is available for clients. Babysitting, car rentals, excursions to the nearby Mayan ruins as well as diving and snorkeling trips can be arranged by the on site staff. Families welcome as well as singles, couples. No pets please.

CHECK OUT TIME - at all destinations (Cozumel,Isla Holbox and Laguna Bacalar) properties, check out time is 12noon the latest. Due to the nature of air flights to the island of Cozumel, we realize that you might need to store luggage until your flight time. This is possible. On the island of Cozumel, if there is no one coming into your room you may use it until it is time to depart for your flight. At the Bacalar property, we ask that you vacate by 11 am, thus allowing the staff proper time to prepare the room for new guests. Should you be flying out from the Chetumal airport and have a late flight, please speak with the staff and they will accommodate your needs. For Isla Holbox check out time will be by 12 noon the latest.

PETS - pets used by the disabled are welcome with prior notice. All other types of pets are not allowed into the Amigo’s areas.

GRATUITIES - a gratuity for your staff is not included in your room rate. Since wages are low here in Mexico, all of the staff members greatly appreciate your kindness. Our recommendations are 2 US per guest per day.

CHILDREN - children are most welcome at Amigo’s B&Bs. Please advise a head of time if you will need any special things for your children. Remember if traveling with underage children both parents must be present otherwise a notarized letter of consent from the non accompanying parent is needed to enter Mexico. Check with your closest Mexican consulate for more details when traveling with children.

ACCESS FOR THE DISABLED - the Bacalar bed and breakfast property is not at all suitable for the disabled as there is a long staircase which you must climb to enter the main house. At the Cozumel bed and breakfast property there is one ground level room, however, the door access and bathroom are not wheel chair fitted. Due to the stairs and sand streets, Isla Holbox is not recommended for wheel chair dependent persons.

SMOKING - we do not have specific "non smoking" rooms. We kindly ask all smokers to please smoke outside on your terrace or in the outside public areas. Plenty of ashtrays are around for your convenience.
