Our company operates its aircraft from its own private dock. You won't lose valuable time on the 1st day of your hunt waiting on the next available floatplane to fly you into camp. If a move to a more productive camp would prove to be beneficial it will be done "free of charge" without hesitation or complication.
We have 25 fully operational camps strategically located throughout the Ungava region of Northern Quebec. 17 camps are kept as spare camps. They are continually scouted throughout the season, by use of our private Cessna 185 and by strategically placing a spare guide in designated camps.
Quebec has two major herds of Caribou, the George River Herd and the Leaf River Herd. J.H.A is one of the few outfitters to have camps intercepting both herds. With constant changes in the migrations nobody should depend on just one herd. Some of the camps that intercept the Leaf River Herd are over 200 air miles from Schefferville and are very costly to fly hunters into, however when needed hunters are flown into these camps immediately at no extra cost.
Quebec's sub-arctic tundra is not only home to the world's largest herd of migrating caribou but it is also home to numerous lakes and rivers that are crystal clear and abound with brook trout, lake trout, landlocked char and northern pike. Over the past 20+ years we have built a series of twenty-five outpost camps scattered throughout northern Quebec. Most of these camps offer excellent fishing, however a few of them stand out from the rest and offer exceptionally good fishing. By choosing three of our best fishing camps to use for our fishing only packages we are certain that our clients will experience some of the best fishing Quebec has to offer. We strictly offer catch & release fishing with barbless hooks, however you can eat as many fish as you would like while at camp. Expect to catch trophy size brook trout and/or landlocked artic char ranging from one to seven pounds, lake trout from three to twenty pounds with the odd thirty-pound trout being hooked, northern pike up to twenty-five pounds.
Property amenities:
J.H.A. now has twenty-five well-equipped camps strategically located covering all areas accessible by floatplane from Schefferville and we will continue to monitor any changes in the migration and build new camps where necessary. Since we only book eight camps at one time we have a three to one ratio of spare camps, we believe with this many spare camps we can offer you the best chance of success in Northern Quebec.
