Sabaskong Bay on Lake of the Woods has long been recognized as one of the world’s premier muskie fishing locations. The many islands create infinite opportunities to fish on rocky reefs, sandy beaches, weedy bays or steep shorelines. Other prominent species include walleye, northern, bass, crappie and lake trout. On a remote island in the midst of this is Duck Bay Lodge.

Some of the finest fishing in Canada is right here in Lake of the Woods. The many islands create infinite opportunities to fish on rocky reefs, sandy beaches, weedy bays or steep shorelines. We’ll be glad to show you the best spots for: muskie, walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, crappie, and lake trout.

Our American Plan resort features six modern lakefront cabins with private baths, new boats and motors, all meals and recreational activities. To ensure your comfort, our boats are 18-foot Lund Outfitters with 40 hp Mercury motors. We invite you to experience our warm hospitality in the Canadian wilderness.

Property amenities:
COTTAGES - Duck Bay Lodge offers friendly, first-class accommodations. Each cabin features lake-front location, private three-piece bath, fresh linens and towels, genuine Hudson Bay blankets, heat, electricity, refrigerator and coffee maker. For your comfort daily maid service is provided. Radio telephone service is available in the lodge. Duck Bay features six private cabins: three one-bedroom cabins which sleep two to four people each. One of these is our "couples" cabin with a queen size bed and wood-burning stove; three two-bedroom cabins which sleep four to six people each.

LODGE - The dining room features a vaulted ceiling, magnificent views of the lake and a striking granite fireplace with an open hearth. A small, sunny sitting room adjoining the dining room is the perfect place to relax and visit with new friends. Hearty home-cooked meals are prepared with care and served family style at your table overlooking the lake. Meals are all-you-can-eat and feature a wide variety of specialties such as baby back ribs with home-made barbeque sauce, chocolate bourbon pecan pie and fresh baked breads. For lunch, a shore-lunch or picnic are provided. Special diets can be accommodated with advance notice.

EQUIPMENT - An 18-foot Lund boat with 40 h.p. Mercury motor is provided for every two people in your party. All boats are fully equipped with flat carpeted floor, padded swivel seats, electric start, fish locator, live well, life jackets, landing net, minnow bucket and required safety equipment. Unlimited fuel is included.

Nearby attractions and activities:
BIRD WATCHING - Lake of the Woods has long been recognized as a paradise for bird watchers. You will have a chance to see rare birds nesting, graceful pelicans and bald eagles gliding against the deep blue sky and blue herons guarding the shores. Osprey, hummingbirds, turkey vultures, pileated woodpeckers, Canadian geese and many species of duck all vie for the birder’s attention. Over 120 species of birds have been noted in the area around Duck Bay Lodge.

A PHOTOGRAPHER’S PARADISE - Bring your camera! With its majestic scenery and bountiful wildlife, Duck Bay Lodge is a photographer’s paradise. Explore the shorelines, viewing the lush forest, vivid native flowers and magnificent vistas created by nature. As well, otters, beavers, muskrat, mink, moose, white-tailed deer and many other magnificent animals abound. For a unique adventure, sight-seeing flights in a float-plane can be arranged.

ROCK PAINTINGS - Ancient pictographs grace the steep rock faces of a number of islands. Duck Bay Lodge is located near many of them. These mysterious remnants of early native culture are believed to be up to 1,000 years old. Both the substance used to make the paint (berry juice, spruce gum, fish oils or tallow and certain minerals) and the subject matter of the drawings themselves, present mysteries to scientists.
