Built by the famous local family of Horace and Augusta Tabor in 1879 (he was Lt Governor, she the first woman in many of the goldfields) the Queen Anne style Victorian home was then on the edge of the city, now the edge of downtown. It is a stop for the Denver history tour, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Now it is home to Denver’s first urban bed and breakfast inn opened for guests in 1987. Step back in time. Enjoy the grand oak staircase, the rare 35-foot open turret, the quaint but comfortable guestrooms, the sturdy antique furnishings, the music, greenery and flowers throughout, the cheerful waterfall in the parlor, the original murals covering entire walls in three rooms, the sunny garden patio, and the old fashioned welcome and hospitality for which Denver, the West and this Inns owners, the King Family, are well known.

Property amenities:
There are 14 guestrooms, all with private baths (7 have whirlpool jet tubs or spas or tubs for two), two have fireplaces, and all have chamber music, green plant, fresh flower bud vase, robes, phones, writing desks, and air conditioning, free on-site parking. Rates include healthy hearty breakfast served for two hours from 7:15 am, evening Colorado wine served 5:30-7:30pm. There are gardens to take out breakfast, enjoy the mild sun or just read a good book. There are four 2-room Gallery suites each named for a famous painter - Audubon, Rockwell, Remington, Calder. For our business guests the inn has unrestricted modem-ready phones, wireless hub internet access, early check in and late arrival privilege, check out as late as 12 noon, early breakfast starting at 7:15 am, or overnight breakfast tray for departures before 7am.There is no charge for internet access or incoming FAX or for guest phone calls.

Nearby attractions and activities:
In view of the downtown location of the inn, major attractions within a few blocks include 50 restaurants, State Capitol, Pedestrian Mall, Denver Art Museum, Colorado History Museum, Fire House Museum, Molly Brown House, Performing Arts Center, Convention Center, Pepsi Entertainment Center, Coors Field Baseball Stadium, city bus terminal, other hotels (Adams Mark, Brown Palace, Hyatt Regency, Marriot, Monaco). Most guests walk to these because these are short blocks so the five block walk to Pedestrian Mall is just ten minutes.

Policy:
Check-in is 10 am to 9 pm; check-out as late as 12 noon. Reservations more than 15 days prior to arrival require a deposit of one night or 50% of the stay whichever is higher. Refund of the deposit in full is made when reservation is cancelled 3 or more nights prior to dates cancelled. When cancellation is made less than 3 days prior to dates cancelled there is still a full refund to the extent the room can be resold. Two-day minimum stays are not frequent (major holiday weekends, major athletic events). There is no smoking inside the inn but of course allowed in the gardens or on the sunny front porch. The inn does not accept pets. Children over 12 are welcome for larger rooms where fire code allows three occupants. Younger children traveling with adults and staying in the same room are also allowed. There are no rooms large enough for a fourth occupant. There is $35 charge for the third person.
